In two weeks time Alex and myself are planning a 24-hour charity gaming challenge marathon. We have a brand new Digital Cowboys Account and for one whole day we will be trying to amass the largest gamerscore that we can on it.
Longstanding and very vocal community member Giles has pledged to sponsor us £10 for every 100 gamer points earned! so willl be playing every game donated by our community as well as the pile of games we have from our own shelves so no money will be spent on new games. We are aiming for 5,000 points over the 24 hour period, which would mean Giles donating a hefty £500.

What we need is community support here.

If you can, pledge either a per-gamerpoint amount like Giles or a lump sum to this en devour, because we need a lot more than what one generous man can give. So far we've had donations of £157 and we've not even begun. We're 8% towards our goal of £2,000 and all donations will be going to Doctors without Borders, which will aid in the medical care for the thousands of Haitians injured in the recent earthquake.

MSF (Medicines Sans Frontiers) an independent international medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid in more than 60 countries to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters or exclusion from health care. In emergencies and their aftermath, MSF rehabilitates and runs hospitals and clinics, performs surgery, battles epidemics, carries out vaccination campaigns, operates feeding centers for malnourished children and offers mental health care. When needed, MSF also constructs wells, dispenses clean drinking water, and provides shelter materials like blankets and plastic sheeting.

As for the challenge itself; we will start on Saturday at 11pm on the 20th of February and finish up on Sunday a day later. We’ll be up all day and night, constantly swapping controllers and checking to see where the next gamerpoints can be found.
You can help us by sending us any terrible games you think it would be funny to see us try to get points from, or send us good ones if you prefer. Giles has already pledged to send us Avatar, Jumper: Griffin's Story, Up and CSI Hard Evidence.

You can also help us with all the online multiplayer achievements. We’ll be twittering our progress constantly so everyone can get involved and make suggestions on what we could do next.
We've had a small but very positive response to this so far but we want some major backing from our community. Even if you don't donate, you can add to our score on things like Halo 3. so lend us your support folks.

Go to the Justgiving page at the top of this post and help us with the games we're playing and achievements we can get. Make any suggestions you like to challenge us. we should hopefully be getting some video footage of this too for YouTube.

The GamerTag that you will need to add is DigitalC0wboys
                                                                       ^
                                                             That's a ZERO not a O

This is a good thing we can do for other people so the unofficial title will be One Day Not Wasted.

The account already has 40G for Lego Rock Band! Ah well, that's a head start I'm sure we can all live with.  Wink

Longstanding and very vocal community member Giles [...]

'Very vocal'? That could be taken in different ways..  Cheesy

Good idea to move the topic to this section of the forums, only signed-in members could view it in the Community Nights area.

Erm... and the podcast is going to need editing too. This was based on the original article and we have been pushing this date back and back and back so I clearly neglected to change the month.

But you won't see the join when I insert my cheery "February" into this weeks show.

No, we just spent ages working out exactly what we wanted to say, and failed to notice the change of date. I've made the edit and it's noticeable but not too distracting and the most important thing is that we get across the point of the challenge.

Anyway moving on...  Wink

Here's my game list again.

Beatles Rock Band
Burnout Revenge
The Darkness
Guitar Hero II
Guitar Hero III
Halo 3
Halo 3: ODST
Hitman: Blood Money
Mass Effect
Rock Band 2
Scene It?: Box Office Smash
Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Stranglehold
Tomb Raider: Underworld
Virtua Tennis 3
Viva pinata

I also have The Orange Box, Dragon Age: Origins, Bayonetta, Darksiders and Mass Effect 2 in the house.

Giles should already have sent Jumper: Griffin's Story, Avatar, Up and CSI.

Suggestions for quick achievements please...

One of the first will be all achievements on Dorito's Dash of Destruction a free downloadable game. (200)

Complete level one of T-Rex campaign = 15

Complete level five of the T-Rex campaign = 15
Complete level six of T-Rex campaign = 20

You don't have them yet? Sent them first class on Tuesday morning.   Shocked

Dammit. Knew I should've paid for recorded, or special, delivery.  Angry

Reason I didn't is that I wanted them to be able to deliver them quickly without needing a signature if you were out.

Tony's local to you, and his ME2 took a long time to arrive. Is there a chance it's just that your local RM sorting office is a bit rubbish?

Never trust the post office. Just sold an action figure on eBay. Securely packaged, recorded delivery and missing a leg when he got there. We still have an extra week anyway so if it does go missing we have time to recover it and it's not the end of the world even if it disappears forever.

Wow. That's a relief.  Smiley

Should know better. Last year I sent my PS2 and all games to my girlfriend's brother via Royal Mail Airsure (their guaranteed international tracked service) before going on holiday for a few weeks. When I got back he told me it still hadn't arrived, so I called RM. The rep told me to wait 'til the end of the week as they'd been having problems and it might still arrive. When it didn't, and I called back, I was informed that I'd missed the window for claiming on the insurance by 2 days.  Angry

Right there you go the date is all changed!, Thank god you got the pile of games Alex we wouldn't want that pile of shit games getting in the wrong hands would we.  Wink

I'll sort out the games that I have that you don't tomorrow but I think the first game that we should kick this event of with should be CHIME as its already a game whose sole purpose is for charity.

I'm 99% sure that I checked all variations of Digital Cowboys and the one with the zero is the only one that stuck but moving on, here's my list of games I keep hanging around and Alex doesn't have on his list, which is quite scary being as I don't really buy games, I rent a lot of them: -

Assassin's Creed
Band Hero
Banjo Kazooie
Bioshock
Borderlands
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Crackdown
DJ Hero
Fable 2
Fallout 3
FIFA 10
Forza 3
Gears of War 1 & 2
GH: Greatest Hits
GH: Metallica
GH: World Tour
GH5
Ghost Recon 2
GRAW
GTA4
Kung Fu Panda
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2
Lego Indy
Lego Rock Band
Lips
Mirror's Edge
PGR4
Rock Band
Rock Band: AC:DC Live
Too Human

An eclectic mix I grant you, I'll take a look at Arcade Games tomorrow but I'm sure time will be tight just with that lot.

Plex, any chance of you working out the best route through the achievements of Rock Band and Guitar Hero
