I couldn't agree more in terms of the complaints of these prices. Some of the games starting to appear on XBLA these days are full quality titles that deserve a higher price point than some of the other items available. Obviously the elimination of piracy and second hand sales for games that are only distributed in this method should mean they can charge less than they would for a traditional distribution method, whether they will stick to that mentality or not we will have to wait and see.
On the point of MS Points I'm hopeful that the actual cost sales that will be coming with the replacement of XBOX originals by the 'full' 360 games might spread to other areas of the system. Why they can't just get PayPal on board and provide that as an option I really don't know.

"... because for every one of you reading this with the discipline to buy 2100 point cards and sit on their caches of juicy space bucks for months on end there are fifty of us (myself included) who leap on the first shiny thing that catches our eye so we can throw our change down like it’s burning a hole in our pocket."

People do what is most effective for them. It does not mean that one person is right and the other is wrong though.

I can't stand MS's policy of forcing the consumer to buy more MS points than actually needed via XBL either, which is why I buy the cards instead (it does costs MS some money to produce those things too, but that's just a minor bonus).

I also dislike the idea of filling up my credit card with lots of piddly transactions that would be hard to keep track of. For me, that is in fact a sure-fire way to go off the rails with the spending.

If I really felt so strongly about this, I would probably not bother purchasing DLC and petition MS to sort this out once and for all. However, the mere fact that Rock Band exists means this is simply never going to happen.

I came to this realisation a while back, but you have to give credit to MS for going about it this way; you've got to acknowledge the cunning of the MSP system, which is, essentially, a voucher system.
